How we keep it free, honestly
Free hosting only works when it is not abused. A few rules keep the servers fast for everyone.
- Log in at least once every 30 days to keep your site active
- One free site per person, with a confirmed email address
- Free sites cannot send email, so spam cannot come from them
- Not allowed: phishing, malware, crypto mining, gambling and adult sites
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no card to enter, no trial that runs out and no ads placed on your site. Hostking runs it so people can try hosting before they need a paid plan.
What is the catch?
The limits are set for one small WordPress site. There is no email and no backups, and you log in every 30 days so unused sites can be cleared.
Can I use my own domain name?
Yes. Point a domain you already own to us, or use a free address like yourname.hostking000.net.
Why can my site not send email?
Free sites cannot send mail at all, which stops spam from free accounts. If your site needs contact form emails or business email, Hostking Launch includes both.
Does my site go to sleep, like on some free hosts?
No. Your site stays online all day. Some free hosts switch sites off for an hour a day; we do not.
Can I run an online shop on it?
You can try WooCommerce, but free sites cannot send email, so order confirmations and password resets will not arrive. For a real shop, Hostking Launch includes email and daily backups.
What happens if I do not log in?
We email you a reminder first. If the site is still unused after that, it is paused and then removed, so the servers stay fast for active sites.
Can I move to a paid plan later?
Yes, any time. Hostking moves your site for you, with your files and database exactly as they are.
