Terms of service

These terms apply to the free hosting service at hostking000.com and to websites on hostking000.net (together, "the service"). The service is run by Hostking (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa ("Hostking", "we"). By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the acceptable use policy.

1. Who can sign up

• You must be 18 or older.
• One free account and one free website per person. You must confirm a working email address.
• The details you give us must be true. Accounts made with false details, or several accounts made by one person, can be closed without notice.

2. What the free plan includes

• One WordPress website on a free address (yourname.hostking000.net) or on a domain you own.
• 1 GB of storage, 10 GB of traffic a month, 30,000 files and a free SSL certificate.
• No email accounts, and websites cannot send email.
• No backups. Keeping your own copy of your website is your responsibility.
• Help through guides and the help centre, not live support.

We may change these limits. If a change lowers a limit, we will tell you by email at least 14 days before it applies.

3. Keeping your account active

Log in to your account at least once every 30 days. If you do not, we email you a reminder. If the account is still not used after the reminder, the website is suspended and later deleted, together with its files and database.

4. Your website and content

• You are responsible for your website, its content, its plugins and themes, and keeping WordPress up to date.
• You keep all rights to your content. You allow us to store and serve it so the service can work.
• Your website must follow the acceptable use policy and the law.

5. Suspension and removal

We may suspend or delete a website or account, without notice when needed, if:

• it breaks these terms or the acceptable use policy;
• it is hacked, sends attacks or carries malware;
• it uses more than its limits or slows the server for other users;
• we are required to by law or by a court or authority.

Where it is safe to do so, we tell you why by email.

6. Moving to a paid plan

You can move your website to a paid Hostking plan at any time. Paid plans are billed and supported through Hostking's client area and fall under Hostking's terms for paid services.

7. No guarantee

The service is free and is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it fast and online, but we do not guarantee uptime, speed or that data will never be lost. We may change or end the free service. If we end it, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email so you can move or download your website.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows, Hostking is not liable for any loss of data, income, profit or business, or for any indirect loss, arising from use of the free service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

9. Closing your account

You can delete your website and account at any time in your account settings. Deleted websites cannot be recovered.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For important changes we will email you before they apply. The date at the top shows when they were last changed.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
